Recycling hunting cartridges and bullets in CharentešŸŒ³

In the past, most hunting cartridges and bullets fired in the Charente region ended up in the environment. Yet both plastic and brass can be recycled.

The FDC16 has decided to collect and recycle them. Used cartridges and bullets now have a future other than that of household waste. The used cartridge is crushed to separate the plastic from the steel. The plastic is recovered and sent to specialist recycling companies. The steel and brass will be recycled by steelworks.

At a rate of 8 grams for a shotgun cartridge, 400 kg per big bag and 22 big bags collected from all Charente waste collection sites, i.e. 8.5 tonnes in total, no less than 1,000,000 cartridges and bullets will be recycled and recovered in Charente!
